2018 was probably the most memorable and fun-filled year of my life. It has always been a dream for us to take a year off and travel the world and it feels unreal that we were able to make this a reality.
We experienced living in California, visited our beloved Sri Lanka again and had the trip of a lifetime in South America. I found a new passion for travel blogging and had so much fun documenting our adventures in my little corner of the internet.
As we welcome a brand new year, take a peek at my top travel highlights from 2018.
January – USA
After 3+ years living in Hong Kong, we moved to California where Tokay attended his MBA course at UC Berkeley. We started to explore the Bay Area and I became obsessed with the San Francisco coffee scene.
February – USA
March – USA
We celebrated my birthday in snowy Lake Tahoe. We screamed our hearts out snow-tubing for the first time.

July – Hong Kong & Sri Lanka
After a quick stop in Hong Kong, we tried the digital nomad lifestyle in Tangalle, Sri Lanka for 3 weeks.
August – UK & Argentina
We returned to the UK to prepare for our upcoming 5-month South America trip. Flew to Buenos Aires and spent 10 days with my family exploring Northwest Argentina.
September – Chile & Bolivia
Crossed the border to Chile and drove through the Atacama Desert, continued onwards to Uyuni Salt Flats and La Paz, Bolivia.
October – Peru
November – Ecuador & Chile
We explored the countryside and coast of Ecuador and fell in love with the beautiful architecture in Quito. After a quick layover in Panama, we flew to Santiago de Chile and enjoyed the sunshine in Valparaiso.
December – Argentina
Back in Argentina, we slowly made our way back to Buenos Aires. We drank lots of Malbec in Mendoza, rode a wind car in San Juan and discovered the colonial legacy of Córdoba.
