When on holiday, you want to carry just the minimal essentials, especially if a lot of walking is involved (there’s nothing worse than carrying a heavy bag with you all day while sightseeing).
I used to take too little in my handbag before and I would many times to end up buying stuff on the go such as tissue papers or bottled water, which is a complete waste and so easily avoidable with better prep in advance.
Currently, I have a list of items that I make sure to take with me when I go out for a sightseeing-packed day. This is the summer edition – if you are heading somewhere warm soon, hope you find it useful!
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen (always protect your skin against the sun!)
- Tissues
- Lipstick (of course)
- Bandana or furoshiki cloth – in case you need to wrap something or cover your bag if it rains
- Small purse (and even better if it comes with a strap that you can tie to your bag for more safety)
- Camera
- Water bottle
- If you’re into zero waste, bring your own cutlery and straw so you can avoid disposable ones!

What’s you must-have item in your purse when on holiday? I’d love to know!
