Coconut oil as an eye make up remover

Today I wanna talk about one of my favourite things on earth, ever: Coconut Oil! I even attempted to start a blog to talk exclusively about coconut oil a few years ago – it was called sheiscoconuts.com (true story). Obviously that did not last long because well, I eventually ran out of things to write about it. BUT my love for it has not changed and I continue to spread the word about it at every opportunity.

I know that by now a lot of people are familiar with it and incorporate it in their beauty regime. However, the other day I was talking to a friend about make up and she had no idea that coconut oil could be used as a make up remover.. so I immediately thought I should write about it and help spread the #coconutlove.

I have religiously been using coconut oil as a make up remover for over 5 years now.  I mainly use it to remove eye make up – I would not recommend using all over your face because coconut oil is comedogenic by nature, which means it may block your pores if not cleansed properly off your face.

With that in mind, here are my 7 reasons why I love using it as eye make up remover:

  1. it smells amazing – very important!
  2. it has anti-aging and moisturizing properties
  3. all natural alternative (nasty chemicals, no thanks)
  4. it doesn’t irritate your eyes
  5. it is super easy to wipe off
  6. it removes the most stubborn make up, including waterproof mascara
  7. it is affordable

If you are not convinced and tempted to ditch your eye make up remover and switch to coconut oil by now, I don’t know what to say!

Whether you use coconut oil or not, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Share below 🙂

Thanks for reading!

I love coconut oil! Especially for stubborn eye makeup – nothing destroys waterproof mascara like it 🙂
